Letter of Zane Heiden, Age 7 - MacDill AFB, FL
Dear Service
Member
I Just want to say thanks for protecting my PaPa and for being
his friend when he was lonely and scared. He was a colonel
and very brave. I know that you are very brave too.
Thank you for leaving your home and families to help other people
who needed you. I know that must be hard. I hope that
you get lots of mail to read when you're bored. Thanks for
everything you have done in the wars. You are the best of
the best.
Love always,
Zane

Dear Service Member:
I just want to say thanks for willingly being absent from family and friends in dangerous circumstances. I know that this selfless sacrifice on your part will make a better life for both less fortunate people in the world and for us back home. I think what you are doing is very brave and honorable. Only a person of courage would spend his time overseas to protect civilians. You should be proud of yourself for your actions. I wish you the best of luck and hope you are able to return home safely. God bless you.
Sincerely,
Michael Moyseowicz

Winning Letter of 2LT. Lynda Gerhart, Age 26 - Ft. Meade, MD
Dear Service Member:
I just wanted to say thanks for your commitment to duty by representing the Armed Forces overseas. I am an Army officer and have received such thanks while in Korea, Saudi and Haiti. I am especially thankful as I am a first time mother of a four month old baby girl. Having a child makes one very patriotic as suddenly I appreciate that my child can be born in a nation that promotes free will, justice and prosperity. You've a vital role in protecting our way of life and America appreciates it! You will be home soon . . .
